Tivoli Unveils Times Square Billboard
Tivoli Audio is unveiling a 98-foot-wide billboard Dec. 1 in New York City’s Times Square that commemorates the tenth anniversary of the company’s founding and features the winning design of its Global Design Challenge.
The day before its official introduction, Tom DeVesto, Tivoli’s CEO and founder, revealed renderings of the design, which will be placed above the Marriott Marquis Hotel at Broadway and West 45th Street, and said it would be posted through New Year’s Eve. He said the contest that produced the winner, designed by Malaysian Huan Miao Khoo, a student at the University of Sydney in Australia, attracted 3,000 entries from 95 countries. Three finalists received cash prizes of $3,000 (first place), $2,000 (second place) and $1,000 (third place).
DeVesto also announced that Tivoli had just opened its first Design Center, a 900-square-foot facility, in the Natick Collection Mall in the Boston area. The space, where 140 varieties of Tivoli’s models and color choices are being shown and sold, “gives us a chance to present directly to the consumer straight information about how our products work,” he said. “The idea is to put the brand where we think it belongs,” in a brightly lit, upscale mall that has an Apple store and a Nordstrom’s and, with 200 stores, is the largest mall in New England. “The nicest thing is that everything we sell there fits in a shopping bag and can go home without an electrician. We think that in these days of complications, that’s a good thing.”
