Toshiba Buys IBM Retail POS Business
Toshiba TEC Corp. announced this week that it has agreed to purchase IBM's Retail Store Solutions (RSS) business. The deal is for $850 million.
As part of the deal, Toshiba will become an IBM business partner for smarter commerce.
"Together, IBM and Toshiba TEC represent the broadest multi-channel offerings worldwide," Craig Hayman, general manager, Industry Solutions, IBM Software Group, said. "The pace of retail expansion requires a strategy to serve this dynamic marketplace.
