Toshiba Launches It’s Largest LCD TVs
Among a number of HD DVD updates, including the news that the current price reductions on key players has become permanent ($299 for the HDA2 and $399 for the HDA20); the company announced that the large screen LCD TVs promised at this year’s CES are now available.
The company’s REGZA 42-, 47, and 52-inch LCD TVs are currently shipping, while the 57-inch Cinema Series 57LX177 will be shipping in July. This model, in addition to the 47 and 52 inch Cinema Series models will include Toshiba’s 120Hz technology called ClearFrame, which takes the 60Hz signal from a video source and interpolates an additional frame to convert the signal to a 120Hz scan rate to reduce motion blur.
In addition, Toshiba reported that the NPD group has affirmed that the company has doubled it’s market share this year in the 32- to 42-inch LCD category in April and May, making it number 3 in that screen size for that time frame.
