Towns Touts New Age Programs at SYNNEX Conference
Towns extolled the benefits of presenting consumers with extended assortments in colors and styles, and offered a solution to dealers who are space-challenged to carry every SKU in every color choice but who still must offer a deep breadth of selection to remain competitive. “If you don’t have the green headphone they want, we can drop-ship it to that customer right to their home. We’ll blind-ship it next day showing your logo, and you’ll keep that customer. If you’re not doing this, you’re missing sales.”
Following Towns’ presentation, a panel commented upon instant audience responses to a series of questions relating to retailing. The responses they reflected on were as follows:
• 38 percent of the audience cited bundles as the most important service distributors can offer retail and vendor partners over the holidays, while 35 percent cited co-op marketing programs as important;
• 38 percent said they planned to broaden their product lineups by adding wearable technology, while just 12 percent planned on adding 4K UHD TVs;
• 46 percent said they have adopted social media techniques as a way to keep their brands top of mind with consumers;
• 32 percent cited security as the most popular home automation technology among consumers today, followed by energy efficiency (26 percent) and home theater pre-wiring/systems (24 percent) and automated lighting and appliances (13 percent).
