Toy Industry Association Wraps up its 113th International Toy Fair
For an event that’s more than a century old, the Toy Industry Association’s North American International Toy Fair is showing no signs of slowing down in its old age. The 113th edition of the show was a success, according to TIA. The event, which ran from February 13-16 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, covered 415,000 net square feet of exhibit space and welcomed more than 30,600 global play professionals—a 16 percent increase over 2015—from 92 different countries.
In all, more than 1,200 exhibitors, importers, distributors, and sales agents showcased their latest product lines and toys that will be key drivers during the 2016 holiday season. Those products were on display for some 10,040 mass and specialty retail buyers (a 12 percent increase from last year). Included in that number delegations from 24 of the nation’s top 25 toy sellers like Amazon, Walgreens, Kohl’s, Costco, Target, CVS, Toys “R” Us, and Walmart.
