Ultra HD Conference Looks to the 4K Future
The manufacturing panel consisted of Tim Alessi of LG, Jamie Marsh of Sony, Scott Ramirez of Toshiba, Jim Sanduski of Sharp, consultant Kevin Miller and Quixel Research analyst Tamaryn Pratt. All expressed a need to keep Ultra HD pricing from rapidly devolving into a race to the bottom as has happened with other CE technologies.
Lots of shots were taken at the current standard of HDTV, the profit potential of which has been squeezed almost dry.
It is clear that the industry is ready to move forward and embrace Ultra HD. But are content producers and consumers ready for it on a mass scale? That remains to be seen.
