UNBOXED: Reviewing the Tapplock One Smart Padlock
Who doesn’t love a solid disruptive piece of technology? That’s especially true when we’re talking about a product category that you didn’t even know needed disrupting. That’s exactly the case with the Tapplock one, a smart padlock that combines Bluetooth, fingerprint technology, and a little Morse code to help you up your padlock game.
The $99 padlock has the same basic design that you’d expect out of this category—there’s a normal-sized metal loop at the top that’s connected to a hefty body. But missing from the Tapplock one is the traditional number dial that you might find on a high school kid’s locker lock, as well as those pesky keys that you end up losing anyway. It's available in Sterling Silver (which we reviewed), Gun Metal, and Midnight Black. All three are incredibly sleek looking.
Instead of having to remember a ridiculous number combination or keep track of a tiny key, this padlock opens one of three ways: through the Tapplock app via Bluetooth connection, with a fingerprint, or by entering a Morse code combination. The first two methods are very 21st-century-esque ways of opening a padlock. Anyone with a smartphone, which is basically everyone today, would find interacting with the Tapplock very similar to how they unlock their smartphone.
