Under New Ownership, CompUSA Relaunches as an Affiliate Deals Website
Add CompUSA to the growing list of shuttered consumer electronics retail brands that have resurrected under new ownership, and looking nothing like the name brand consumers may remember.
In an emailed statement to press and industry affiliates, Yishai Grossman, founder and CEO of DealCentral LLC, announced that he is relaunching the CompUSA.com website aimed at pointing “shoppers to today’s best deals on computer components, laptops, televisions, and anything else tech.” DealCentral, which announced earlier this month that it had acquired CompUSA, is a privately held company that runs a startup deal hunting and coupons website and community. In a statement at the time of the acquisition, the company said it intended to relaunch the iconic brand as a virtual marketplace for deals on computer products from some of the top names in the industry, including Apple, Dell, HP, and Microsoft.
“Out of the gate we can offer the best deals, sales and coupons from all around the web in one place from our partner stores like Walmart, Amazon and Best Buy,” Grossman explained. “Then, come the holiday shopping season, we will host all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday ads, break down the massive sales and keep everyone up to date about the hottest deals.”
