U.S. Households Boast More CE Gear Than Ever
By Steve Koenig
The recently published results of CEA's annual CE Ownership and Market Potential study answers this question and more. The survey results show the average U.S. household owns 25 CE products. While this overall ownership level is remarkable, the analysis also reveals households are equally enthusiastic about their media content; owning approximately 100 music CDs, more than 40 DVD movies and 16 video games on average.
While American households are clearly passionate about consumer electronics, the willingness of households to open their wallets to buy the CE products and content they want is an inspiring finding of the study. CEA estimates total retail sales in the CE industry were over $136 billion last year, pegging average household spending on CE products close to $1,250.
