Panasonic To Help Solve Rebate Payment Problems
"This is huge," said Mike Decker, Nationwide's executive vice president of electronics marketing, when he heard about the Panasonic Hub. "It's a good deal for the industry. Panasonic will get more kudos for this than they'll ever know. It will push retailers to support that brand even more than they do now."
Jeff Blumenthal, an owner of B&B Appliance in Cleveland, is not a Panasonic dealer, but he was one of several retailers at the conference who said the problem had to be solved before dealers began dropping specific brands.
"Almost anything a manufacturer does to simplify this problem and speed up the payments is a big step forward," he said Monday. "The manufacturers are going to have to wake up soon. Besides the money they're costing dealers, they're also trying to run dealers' businesses for them. It seems that all of our time goes into running the manufacturers' programs for them instead of spending the time needed to create our own programs."
