Verizon Plans Big LTE Upgrade
Verizon Wireless is planning to upgrade its 4G LTE network to 11 new markets, while also expanding in several more, later this week.
The company said that the arrival of LTE in such areas as Atlantic City, Hyannis, Mass., Eugene/Springfield, Ore. and Paris, Tex., will bring the service to 258 markets, covering two thirds of the U.S. population. Areas getting expanded service will include Denver, Dover, Del., Erie, Pa. and Toledo, Ohio.
"We continue to move forward with strengthening and expanding our 4G LTE network to offer customers the highest quality of wireless experience in the United States," David Small, chief technical officer of Verizon Wireless, said as part of the announcement.
