Verizon: "No Plans" For iPhone
Despite a barrage of rumors that next week's expected launch of the next iPhone will involve a break from AT&T exclusivity, a Verizon Wireless spokesman said this week that the carrier has no plans to carry the popular device.
Verizon has "no plans to carry the iPhone in the immediate feature," Verizon spokesman John Johnson told Beet.tv in a video interview published Wednesday. Johnson then immediately changed the subject to Android-based devices, which he said are outperforming the iPhone.
Johnson also said in the interview that video will start becoming a bigger part of mobile phone offerings, especially as Verizon's 4G networks begin launching. He said the 4G network will arrive in 25-30 markets this year, with 4G-equipped devices to come soon.
