Video & Audio Center Handles First-Ever Install of Samsung's ‘The Wall' TV System
A month-long retail celebration of Samsung CE and appliance technologies – the Samsung Technology Showcase Open House - has launched in the five stores that constitute Southern California’s experiential retail operation Video and Audio Center, with the sale and installation in a private residence of Samsung’s 146-inch Wall Professional MicroLED TV system – the first-ever sold in the U.S., according to Tom Campbell, Video and Audio Center's chief technologist.
He reports to Dealerscope that three additional “Walls” have been ordered as a result of the Samsung showcasing event, and that their installation destinations include the lounge area of a luxury L.A.-area hotel and a super yacht. “Samsung is red-hot for us,” he said.
The Samsung brand figures especially prominently in the dedicated Galleria showcase near the front of the Century City Westfield open-area high-end mall, where it will command that real estate through October, said Campbell.
The event is leading the retailer into what store co-owner Joseph Akhtarzad says is a “phenomenal, record-breaking fourth quarter for us, with strong consumer acceptance of new technologies like Samsung’s The Wall, the newest versions of The Frame, and their 8K QLED TVs. Sales are up, and traffic is up – we’re breaking our 30-plus-year record for this sales season, especially in products at mid-level and higher-end price points.”
The stores are promoting the event that puts Samsung front and center with its customers throughout the month of October via TV, radio and print advertising and via the store website.
“Retail is evolving, and those who evolve with it are doing well. Our story isn’t price – it’s features and benefits and of course, content,” Campbell said, pointing to the 8K content that is on view throughout all Video and Audio Center locations. Thanks to the stores’ ability to feature that content prominently, “8K sets are flying out the door. When you come in, you see content, content, content – it’s what really drives the sale.”
