Vista Selling Slowly, NPD Group Says
Copies of the Microsoft Vista operating system are lagging behind those of its predecessor by nearly 60 percent, according to estimates by the NPD Group cited by the Web site Mac Daily News.
At the six-month mark of Vista’s availability, standalone in-store unit sales (not including copies bundled with PCs) were down 59.7 percent from marks posted by Windows XP in the six months after it was released in late 2001. Revenue had fallen 41.5 percent from XP’s level.
Sales of Office 2007, however, have been impressive, with 20 percent of those sales going to Mac users.
