LCD Drives Worldwide TV Growth
Global TV shipments for the fourth quarter of 2010 reached 77.6 million units, a 15 percent year-over-year jump, according to numbers released by DisplaySearch on Tuesday.
In North America, Vizio was the top LCD TV brand in market share for North America for the full year, moving past Samsung, although Samsung remained #1 worldwide.
Worldwide, LCD TV was a big driver of growth, outstripping growth of plasma for the first time since three quarters earlier, as prices fell and LED became a larger part of the category. During the year 2.3 million 3D TVs were shipped, accounting for 9 percent of worldwide TV revenue.
