Wal*Mart Announces CE Expansion
The world’s largest retailer, Wal*Mart, announced Monday that it will significantly expand its consumer electronics offerings. In a statement, the company attributed the decision to the tendency among today’s customers to be “technology-driven” in their shopping habits.
Wal*Mart will now offer products from across the CE spectrum. The new displays will include both HDTV and home theater products from the likes of Philips, Samsung, and Vizio, as well as cameras from Samsung, HP and Kodak. As for telecommunications, the company will now offer Skype software, headsets, handsets, and web cameras.
By the end of May, Wal*Mart said, its TV products will be entirely compliant with FCC regulations governing the analog-to-digital transition.
