Wal-Mart Cuts Back SuperCenters
Wal-Mart Stores said it will decrease the number of SuperCenters it plans to open this year by as much as 30 percent as it tries to increase U.S. sales, Reuters reported.
Analysts and investors have pushed Wal-Mart to slow the expansion of U.S. SuperCenters as sales at its existing stores have slowed, partly due to market saturation, Reuters reported
The retailer operates about 2,307 U.S. SuperCenters. It now plans to open 190 to 200 this fiscal year, down from the original goal of 265 to 270, Reuters reported. Starting next fiscal year, the company expects to open 170 annually, Reuters reported.
