Wal-Mart One of Few to Post Positive November Results
Wal-Mart Thursday reported November same-store sales up 3.4 percent from the same period the year before. In doing so Wal-Mart became one of the few major U.S. retailers to report a positive sales quarter.
Of three dozen or so retailers collected in Reuters' survey of retailers' November results, only a handful reported positive results; another was another discount outlet, B.J.'s Wholesale, which posted a 6.2 percent gain. Both Costco and Target posted drops, with Target dropped 10.4 percent.
Neither Best Buy or Circuit City has yet announced November sales results.
