Wal*Mart to Open Super-Efficient Store Near Chicago
Wal*Mart said this week that it plans to open the first of its next generation of energy-efficient SuperCenter stores next week. The first store, to be located in Romeoville, Ill., Southwest of Chicago, will use 25 percent less energy than regular SuperCenters, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
The company had opened the first of its high-efficiency stores, which had 20 percent reduction in energy usage as their goal, in Kansas City last year. The new store will mostly save energy by changing the way it does its heating and cooling. The Romeoville location is the first of four second-generation locations plans; the others will be placed in three separate areas of the country.
