Walmart last week settled a lawsuit for $17.5 million that was filed by employees claiming racial discrimination. According to Bloomberg News, the settlement came ahead of a trial that was scheduled to begin in March.
The suit was filed nearly five years ago, after truck driver Daryal Nelson was denied a position with the company. The suit became a class action in 2007. Walmart, as it moves into the tenure of new CEO Mike Duke, recently settled several other lawsuits filed by workers.
