Walmart Installing “Smart Network”
Walmart announced Wednesday that it will soon roll out a new in-store information network aimed at delivering information to customers via in-store televisions. The Walmart Smart Network, which the company says was the result of two years and $10 million worth of research, will deliver information that is optimized “by store, by screen, by day and by time-of-day.”
“We’ve built a network tailored to the way consumers shop our stores - delivering helpful, custom, content closest to the point of decision - that helps them shop smarter,” the company’s chief marketing officer, Stephen Quinn, said as part of the announcement.
Rollout is scheduled to begin later this month, with chainwide implementation expected to be done in 2010.
