Walmart Takes Steps in New York, San Diego
Walmart this week made progress in its quests to enter the New York and San Diego markets.
On the New York end, the retail giant reached an agreement with New York's construction unions to use union labor in the building of potential Big Apple stores. According to the Wall Street Journal's Metropolis blog, Walmart has reached a five-year contract with the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York to use their labor in the construction of new stores.
Union opposition has been a major roudblock to Walmart's plans to enter New York for several years. Other unions remain opposed to the move.
