Last Big Push For Chicago Walmart
Walmart's long battle to open a new Walmart location on the South Side of Chicago have reached a new phase, with the retail giant launching a multimedia blitz in the area before the Chicago City Council votes on whether to approve it.
According to Fox Chicago News, the company took out a full-page ad in the Chicago Sun-Times last weekend, and has also begun running radio commercials. Mayor Richard Daley supports the arrival of the store, which would be the city's second.
The new store has run into opposition from labor unions, who are seeking to get Walmart to promise to hire union workers.
