In 2017, not even the jobs fair industry is safe from the ever-expanding reach of Amazon. A little hyperbole there, but the Seattle-based company is planning to host an event dubbed Amazon Jobs Day, which isn’t an ode to the late former Apple founder and CEO. Rather, it’s a nationwide jobs fair that will take place on August 2nd at 10 of the company’s fulfillment centers stretching from Massachusetts to Washington.
On that day, Amazon will look to hire enough people to almost sell out CenturyLink Field (home of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks). According to the company, it has an estimated 50,000 open full-time roles in its U.S. fulfillment network. On Jobs Day, interested candidates can go to one of the fulfillment centers, learn about the technology the company uses in its operations, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to work for Amazon.
The company said it plans to make thousands of on-the-spot job offers to qualified candidates who apply on-site.
