Westinghouse Enters Chinese HDTV Market
On Tuesday, Westinghouse announced its expansion into the Chinese LCD HDTV market with the availability of their displays at the country’s popular retail chain Gome. Westinghouse will distribute their full line of 27, 32, 37, 42 and 47-inch LCD TVs to Chinese consumers. Westinghouse has been a name in China for over 20 years, but this is their first foray into the HDTV market there. Says Richard Houng, CEO of Westinghouse Digital Electronics, “Westinghouse Digital is very bullish on China. Together with the North American market, the Chinese market represents such significant demand that Westinghouse Digital can enjoy economies of scale and continue to be a major global player in televisions and convergent products that drive flat panel displays.”
