Westinghouse, Pulse~LINK to Debut Wireless HDTV at CES
Westinghouse Digital Electronics and Pulse~LINK, Inc. announced Thursday a new wireless HDTV that will make its world debut at this year’s CES. The Westinghouse Digital Wireless HDMI HDTV features Pulse~LINK’s CWave UWB wireless HDMI technology, designed to deliver real-time lossless HD streaming, eliminating the need to run cable from content sources.
“The fact that [wireless technology] is fully integrated into our HDTV display is unprecedented in the industry and will certainly raise expectations for high quality ready to mount wall display products in the marketplace,” said John Araki, Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Business Unit, at Westinghouse Digital Electronics.
The system encodes video data in JPEG2000, with a CWave 1.35 Gbps over-the-air signaling rate resulting in a 890 Mbps application layer throughout. The wireless range exceeds 500 Mbps at 8 ft and 115 Mbps at 40 ft.
