No New Consoles For Four More Years, Analyst Predicts
When will the next generation of gaming consoles arrive in stores? Not for awhile, one analyst said this week.
According to a report by Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, quoted Tuesday by PC World, it is unlikely that any major new gaming consoles will arrive prior to 2013, "if at all." Pachter says this is because both hardware and TV manufacturers have invested so much time and money into the current technology that they don't wish for it to become obsolete quickly.
In addition, publishers wish for sales of software to continue growing, as opposed to slowing down in anticipation of a new console on the way.
