Game Sales Dropped in October
Video game sales in the month of October dropped 19 percent from the same period the year before, while the Nintendo Wii overtook the PlayStation 3 as the highest-selling console, according to sales figures released Friday by the NPD Group.
NPD found that sales were $1.07 billion. Hardware dropped 23 percent, while software dropped 28 percent and accessories fell 2 percent.
The PlayStation 3, on the strength of its recent price cut, had taken the top spot in September, but Nintendo's Wii price cut put it back on top in October.
