iPhone Delays Seen As Problem For Apple
While iSuppli Corp. sees Apple selling 21.7 million iPhone 4 units this year - and predicts that sales of the device will continue to grow well into the future- the various hiccups in the company's attempts to meet demand for the phone on its first weekend could lead aggravated customers to opt for competitors.
"While the channel supply issue might not impact total iPhone sales for the entire year, what is happening now certainly has done some damage to the Apple brand,” Tina Teng, senior analyst for wireless communications at iSuppli, said as part of the announcement.
“Consumers, questioning Apple’s supply chain management capability, have started looking for alternative devices. In particular, consumers are not satisfied with Apple’s response to the antenna issue causing poor reception and dropped calls.” These include various Android devices that have recently been and soon will be released, including HTC EVO 4G and Samsung's Galaxy line.
