Those manufacturers also have an army of value-added resellers (VARs) selling into the corporate, government and education markets. iPads are gaining traction in all of those markets, legitimizing the use of tablets for a variety of different applications. The iPad has changed the dynamics of computing; Android-based tablets will expand that foundation. Retailers will benefit from that adoption as more business people and students their own tablets and accessories.
4. Retailers looking for a product differentiator and a true solution sale that can drive many add-on products and services should share their manufacturer partners’ enthusiasm for Android-based tablets. Most retailers have strong relationships within those manufacturers and related distributors. They must work with them for advantageous merchandising and marketing programs so they can position tablets and related products (routers, streaming device, monitors, wireless keyboards and mice, cases, stands, etc…) as stand-alone sections in their stores to attract customers and drive sales.
5. Many retailers have expanded their PC-related products over the last year and are focusing on home networking gear and related home control, IP-based security, media streaming and other converged solutions. Android-based tablets are a perfect cornerstone to those new computing divisions and a great complement to converged solutions.
