Wii Outsells All Other Consoles
How popular is the Nintendo Wii? In April, it outsold all competing consoles combined in the U.S.
According to NPD Group figures cited by Ars Technica, 714,000 Wii units were shipped during the month, which was more than the combined sales totals of the Microsoft Xbox 360, and Sony Playstation 3, not to mention the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. These totals came despite continued shortages of the consoles.
That was not only the only good news for Nintendo- its Nintendo DS portable console moved 414,800 units, which also outsold every other console but the Wii. The 360 narrowly beat out the PS3 for the third spot, with 188,000 (the PS3 sold just over 187,000.)
