Wiivv’s 3D Digital Foot-Mapping
Time was that short of having orthotics ordered for you by a podiatrist, customized insoles within a shoe were out of reach for many consumers with foot pain.
Enter Canada-based Wiivv, which was at the Well Now! show in New York City last week, demonstrating its 3D system of digital foot-mapping – using a smartphone.
The technology employs sensors in conjunction with a smartphone, which takes photos of the feet and conveys them to an app, which measures 200 separate touch-points, generating figures that inform how the customized insole will be shaped. The data is then sent to the company and the insoles are shipped out for free within 10 days. There is a 30-day take-back guarantee, and a one-year manufacturer’s warranty on each pair of insoles produced.
The technology is tailored to several different insole models for different shoe types including sandals, and prices range from $79 to $129.
