Wireless Phone Accessory Sales
The preferred soft bundle is one that offers a set grouping of accessories that are already available á la carte in your store, but that can be purchased for a discounted price. For example, you could offer a Digital Power Pack bundle consisting of a car charger, belt clip and hands-free headset for $49.99. If purchased separately, the car charger would be $19.99, the belt clip $9.99, and the headset $29.99. The customer saves $10 by purchasing the bundle vs. purchasing the items separately. Merchandising should emphasize the $10 savings. The value is easy for the customer to understand.
Hard bundles consist of two or more accessories packaged together into one retail clamshell or box. While not as flexible as soft bundles, hard bundles offer the benefit of easy implementation. The hard bundle can be labeled to tell customers that all accessories included in the kit are compatible with their phone. Soft bundles sometimes involve
time-consuming store searches for the proper accessories, while the benefit of hard bundles is that they take up less space on the wall. This allows you to stock more quantity. The value of the hard bundle can also be displayed directly on the package. Plus, it's easier for the sales representatives to process because they're only entering one UPC code.
