Two more top TV manufacturers have joined the Wireless Speaker and Audio Association (WiSA), bringing the total number of TV brands aligned with the association to six. WiSA, which is comprised of more than 60 leading consumer tech brands, has added Compal, which ships TVs under the Toshiba brand, and Fengmi, a Xiaomi Technology ecosystem company and laser projection TV manufacturer. Those brands join TV members LG Electronics, Foxconn, TCL, and Bang & Olufsen.
“Given the support of six leading global TV brands, and with millions of WiSA Ready systems coming to market this year, the industry continues to embrace the technology standards we’re championing,” Tony Ostrom, president of association, said in a statement. “Additionally, later this year, we anticipate the launch of 8K TVs, which will be compatible with a number of WiSA USB Transmitters and all WiSA Certified speakers from WiSA members. We’re excited by the momentum and forthcoming milestones of the second half of the year.”
Driven by the desire to provide consumers a seamless way to build a wireless home entertainment ecosystem that works for them—both from a logistical in-home standpoint, as well as with their personal taste. With that mission in mind, WiSA Certified and WiSA Ready components are designed to work together seamlessly to deliver wireless, multi-channel audio and authentic home theater sound. And the ease of setup means consumers will be able to get that audiophile-level in-home entertainment experience without the grueling setup process—even for 5.1 and 7.1 systems.
