For tech startups, there’s no better validation that the work you’re doing is worthwhile than partnerships with major, multi-billion dollar companies. And that’s just what’s happened for Flo Technologies, makers of a solution that helps consumers detect water leaks throughout their homes, which announced a huge new partnership with Moen—one of the leading in-home plumbing fixture manufacturers.
Flo, a father-son company that launched a few years ago, really had their coming out parts at CES 2018 last year. There, the brand showed off their simple $500 water leak detection system, which attaches to nearly any main in-home water supply. What the product does is it monitors the flow of water throughout the entire home and can detect and notify the user when there’s a potential leak through the brand’s app. The system can also proactively shut off the flow of water to prevent further potential damage to the home. According to Flo, there are massive potential savings to homeowners who employ their product, in both total water usage and potential insurance savings.
Flo is already available at retail through outlets like Home Depot, but with the announcement of their partnership with Moen, the potential expansion of their distribution is seemingly limitless and goes beyond the traditional retail model. Speaking with Flo CEO and co-founder Gabe Halimi (the son in the father-son equation), there are obvious benefits for the brand in adding a name like Moen to the mix. But beyond that, he said, there’s the potential to get their product in on the ground floor when it comes to new home builds and home renovation projects. Moen is already one of the go-to sources for homebuilders and homeowners doing bathroom projects. Adding Flo’s detection system to their mix means they can get the product into those new builds and other projects early on in the process, giving Flo instantaneous access to a potential customer base that they might otherwise have had to work years to build up.

At the end of the day for Flo, their mission is simply to help consumers protect their homes from one of the most common and most brutal of issues in water damage. They’ve already made a name for themselves in that space, and the Moen partnership seems like it’s only going to kick things into an even higher gear for the company, giving them an opportunity to serve even more customers.
