With New M Series, Vizio Emphasizes LED Zones
The amount of LED zones, Vizio product marketing manager Carlos Angulo admits, haven't always been a major selling point for LED TVs. But that's what Vizio is emphasizing in the rollout of its new M-Series of LED TVs.
Angulo demonstrated the new M-Series for the press in New York Tuesday, the same day the line began its retail rollout. The M-Series has been around for a few years, but it has "never had its identity as clear as it does today," Angulo said.
While the new TVs feature a thinner bezel, an updated Via Internet Apps Plus interface, the big new selling point, Angulo said, is the number of local dimming zones. The zones, up to 36, are double the amount in last year's models, while also building in Full-Array LED backlighting. This leads to deeper blacks- including a completely black top and bottom of the letterbox. For comparison, Vizio showed an M-Series model side-by-side with a comparable Samsung model.
