TV Shipments Fell in 2011
Worldwide television shipments followed six years of growth with a decline in 2011, according to data released Wednesday by NPD DisplaySearch. The total shipments dropped 0.3% to 247.7 million.
According to NPD's Quarterly Global TV Shipment and Forecast Report, shipments did grow 19 percent in the fourth quarter compared to the same time last year. And 3D models are now 14 of global TV shipments.
“The causes of slow demand in 2011 were complex, and although LCD TV showed growth, results were well below industry expectations," Paul Gagnon, NPD DisplaySearch's director of North America TV research, said as part of the release.
