XM Agrees To College Sports Deal
XM Satellite Radio has made a multiyear deal that will give it satellite broadcast rights to the football and basketball games played by the Big 12 Conference. The deal makes XM the official satellite radio provider for all six major conferences that comprise the Bowl Championship Series (BCS).
Under the deal, which also includes TV rightsholder ESPN Regional Television, XM will air the annual Big 12 Championship Game in football, as well as multiple Big 12 football games each week, and both some regular season games and all postseason tournament games in mens’ and womens’ basketball.
XM already held broadcast rights for the Atlantic Coast Conference, Southeastern Conference, and Big Ten, Pac-10, and Big East Conferences, the other leagues that comprise the post powerful teams in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA.) XM also recently became the exclusive satellite radio home of the BCS, college football’s series of five postseason games.
