XM, Sirius Outline ‘a La Carte’ Pricing Plans
XM and Sirius Satellite Radio have described details of the “a la carte” pricing options that it plans to offer should its proposed merger be approved, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
The combined companies plan to offer packages of 50 channels for $6.99 a month and 100 channels for $14.99. Also offered will be specific “news-sports-talk,” music, “family friendly” and “best of” packages.
Also on Monday, the merger picked up another key supporter- New York’s Roman Catholic archbishop. In an article in the New York Post, Edward Cardinal Egan- head of the Archdiocese of New York- wrote that the merger “offers a unique opportunity to extend the reach and breadth of religious programming” and also “an unmatched opportunity to strengthen this new medium.” The Catholic Channel, operated by the New York Archdiocese, has aired on Sirius since September of 2006.
