XM/Sirius Merger Endorsed By Key Lawmakers
As the proposed merger between Sirius and XM Satellite Radio reaches a decision point from federal regulators, a trio of key Congressmen has come out in favor of the companies combining.
According to Reuters, Reps. Connie Mack IV of Florida, and Joe Baca and Bob Filner, both of California, have endorsed the merger. Mack is a Republican; Baca and Filner are Democrats. Other members of Congress, led by Michigan Democrat John Conyers, have come out in opposition of the merger.
The companies also announced this week, according to Reuters, that General Motors- which has a business relationship with both companies- has endorsed the merger as well.
