Distributor Round Table
Mary Campbell, Vice President of Marketing
Part of D&H Distributing’s value proposition is to offer an exhilarating forum for its dealer customers, with access to hundreds of the market’s latest innovations under one roof, including face-to-face access to many of our most progressive partners.
D&H’s five U.S. events feature up to 120 vendors at each venue, with free registration for our customers. We are planning seminars on topics such as Windows 8.1, the new K-12 educational sales initiative, Chromebooks and more. The shows include distinct amenities such as last season’s ‘Touch Experience’ mobile product lounge, an ongoing Emerging Technology pavilion, and hands-on product Demo Zones.
DSI Systems Inc.
Jerry L. Satoren, Executive
VP Consumer Electronics
In the past few years, DSI has hosted our top dealers at a mid-year national expo in Dallas. This year, we have decided that rather than having one big event for a select number of dealers, we will go back to holding regional buying and training expos beginning in 2015. This will allow us to reach many more dealers over the course of the year.
With that said, we feel very strongly that 2014 will be a very significant “rebound” year for the TV business. Specifically 4K, and potentially OLED, will finally achieve very meaningful sales volume in the back half of 2014. The volume and profit potential that is coming, especially for the independent retailer, hasn’t been seen for a few years and we want to help position our dealers as the place in their towns where consumers can see and buy these new technologies.
So this year, DSI will devote a lot of resources to helping our dealers create the environment on their floors to achieve this. We will offer dealers special floor display terms to help them display more premium technology models and screen sizes on their floors than they normally would. We are working with our manufacturers to make store fixtures and signage available to our dealers to create the right floor messaging.
We will also be creating many new training modules on these technologies and brands as part of our DSI University program to equip our dealers’ salespeople with the knowledge they need. These will be the keys to profitability, and we can’t wait to share in this with all of our partners.
