A new horse has officially become a fixture of the media player carousel, only this one is backed by that somewhat popular company from Redmond, Wash.
That Microsoft waited this long to join a particular market hasn’t really mattered in the past. Was Windows the first point-and-click interface for the PC? Was Office the first front-office application suite? Anyone remember Netscape? ... the original Netscape? How about the PlayStation 2 and Sega Dreamcast?
The fact that others may dominate a specific market has never stopped Microsoft from at least attempting (and usually succeeding) to rub them out.
