Caloric Home Appliance Brand To Be Relaunched

The Caloric brand name will be reintroduced on kitchen appliances in late 2012 after being off the market since the 1990s.

JMM Lee Properties, LLC is the owner and licensor of the Caloric brand as part of a diverse portfolio of consumer trademarks. IMM noted that the Caloric appliance brand was known as one of the first brands to offer a complete line of matching appliances for upscale kitchens.

Whirlpool Pleased With Dumping Determinations

Whirlpool Corp. issued a statement saying it was pleased with the U.S. Department of Commerce's final affirmative determinations of dumping margins in the anti-dumping investigations related to bottom-mount refrigerators from South Korea. Whirlpool filed anti-dumping and countervailing duty petitions under U.S. and international trade laws in March 2011, saying it was seeking to establish conditions of fair competition in the U.S. market. Whirlpool products affected by the case are made in Amana, Iowa, where it has about 2,200 employees. Whirlpool Corp. released a statement on August 30 regarding a U.S. Commerce Department's issuance of a negative preliminary determination in its countervailing duty investigation, which focuses on subsidies provided by South Korean to certain Korean refrigerator producers.

Whirlpool said the non-final determination came four months into a 12-month investigation and noted that, two weeks ago, the Commerce Department expanded its investigation to include seven additional categories of subsidies to Korean refrigerator producers.
