Each year in this column I reflect on the year behind us and look ahead at the year to come as I lay out my expectations for the next 12 months. In the last two years, I’ve started this column with virtually the same sentence: “In many ways a look ahead will be a look back.” While that will apply to some aspects of 2014, we will see some important shifts as momentum continues to build during the year.

Apple has released an updated version of its Apple Store app with support for iBeacon Systems. The OTA update allows customers to receive location based information about Apple’s products when they are in close proximity to or inside of one of the company’s retail stores. The app utilizes the Bluetooth Low Energy profile on all of the new iOS devices and then connects with physical transmitters that are placed inside of the store.
Klipsch's Energy brand this week announced the arrival of the Energy BTS 2.1, a new soundbar and wireless music system. The product includes a 10-inch wired subwoofer, two 3-inch full-range drivers and 3D Surround Mode.
