The headphone wars appear to have entered their next phase. This time, it’s been Beats and Bose, and the battleground is the NFL. And while Bose and Beats, according to an AP report Friday afternoon, have settled their outstanding patent litigation, the football side of the battle appears far from over.
Look for more heated words between consumer electronics industry advocates and broadcasters over the use of airwaves for advanced, wireless communications services. One result of such inter-industry squabbling is a slowdown of Federal policy-making. Regulators, including the FCC where this battle is now being fought, generally wait for feuding parties to resolve their own differences before official rules are established. At the very least, the feuding – and eventual court resolution – may carry this battle well into the next decade – thus potentially affecting the market for new products to be used on the contested airwaves.

The e-commerce software provider Escalate Retail announced Tuesday that it will soon begin selling advanced software from Taurus Software to its Ecometry Commerce Suite customers. The software will be sold to both existing and new customers, Escalate said in its announcement. Escalate, which has over 650 retail clients, will offer the capabilities of the Taurus products, which extend the capabilities already offered by the previous Ecometry software. The earlier suite, which already offered more than 800 standard reports, will now include pre-built dashboards for financement, sales and marketing, warehouse management, and other applications.
