CEDIA Monday announced that Randy Stearns has been elected the organization's new chairman, replacing Randy Vaughan following Vaughan's passing last month.

CompUSA Introduces PC Products To Good Guys Stores By Natalie Hope McDonald Before Comcast courted Disney and after Time-Warner merged with AOL, CompUSA set out to acquire Good Guys in a deal valued at an estimated $55.6 million. The Dallas-based computer retailer predicted what would become an even more enmeshed relationship between the CE and PC worlds. The goal? To expand the merchandising mix of both chains to include home entertainment technology at CompUSA and more PC-related products at Good Guys for networking's sake. Good Guys, based in Alameda, Calif., currently operates 71 stores throughout the Pacific West in California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

CEO and President Kenneth R. Weller of Good Guys stepped in as chairman of the company's board of directors when Ronald A. Unkefer retired as chairman and as a board member. Unkefer remains the company's largest individual shareholder. Unkefer returned to Good Guys in 1999 to lead the retailer's turn around and brought 11-year Good Guys veteran Weller back into the fold after a seven year stint at Best Buy. Former Senior Vice President of Services for Best Buy Lowell Peters is now chairman of Partsearch's Advisory Board.
