Crown Audio, a Home Entertainment Source member, announced this week that it has opened a new showroom in Winter Park, Fla. The company's other store is in Lake Mary, also in Central Florida.

The Melbourne-based company that oversees eight Appliance Direct retail stores in Central Florida filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, hoping to reorganize its finances so it can continue to operate all of its locations.

Appliance Now Inc., Appliance Direct Management Inc., and the eight Central Florida stores filed individual Chapter 11 bankruptcy notices last Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Middle District in Orlando.

Starting in the middle of 2008, electronics and appliance retailer HHGregg Inc. will open at least five locations in Central Florida. The first of the stores will open in the Jacksonville area and then continue to Orlando shortly after, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The expansion to Florida is a result of the completion of a near $49 million initial public offering of shares last July, followed by earnings in the last fiscal year of $1.1 billion, the newspaper reported.
