Could home automation integration be the most useful feature of the Apple Watch? Showing off the new smartwatch during Apple's keynote in San Francisco today, the Cupertino firm put on a demo of how third-party apps - in this case from home security firm Alarm.com - could integrate with the wearable, and give easier access to things like lighting, doors, and garages. 

Apple CEO Tim Cook has been busy touring the world ahead of the launch of the Apple Watch. He has already traveled to Germany, Belgium, Israel, and London. On Monday, Cook was seen at the European Commission in Belgium, where he was photographed with the vice-president of the EC who oversees the digital single market. In Germany, Cook met with the BILD newspaper, as well as the Seele glass manufacturing facility which is working on projects for the Apple campus at Cupertino.

Samsung has launched a new 12.2-inch laptop, the Ativ Book 9, which offers an excellent set of specifications, and could easily be a decent Macbook Air replacement. Apple is long rumored to be working on a 12-inch Macbook, but we haven't seen anything official from the Cupertino-based company.

Apple Wednesday sent invitations to the press for its upcoming event Oct. 16, which is expected to feature new iPads and possible new Macs as well.
