The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers last weekend handed out several awards to industry luminaries, at its annual member meeting in Fort Myers, Fla. The radio conglomerate ClearChannel announced Monday that it will begin broadcasting its Total Traffic Network in the HD Radio format to nearly 50 major cities, providing a boost to HD Radio at a time when the future of the medium is in question. Previously, the Total Traffic Network data was provided mostly through GPS devices; concurrently with the HD Radio announcement, ClearChannel also announced that it is expanding the traffic network into 19 markets, including Montreal, Toronto, Rochester, N.Y., Fort Myers, Fla., and Tucson, Ariz.
