Best Buy Monday officially announced that it is both buying British mobile retail giant Carphone Warehouse out of its share of the Best Buy Mobile venture, and closing its big box stores in Great Britain.

Apple's iPad device launched in nine countries Friday, leading to long lines at locations around the world.

Apple announced Friday that the iPad will arrive in nine more countries May 28. The device is set to ship in Great Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and Switzerland.

In this series that began last week and deals with driver distractions, we move our focus to facts surrounding the driver distraction discussion. 
Texting has grown tenfold in only three years to 110 billion texts sent per month, according to CTIA-The Wireless Association.  Eighteen states have banned texting while driving and seven states have banned talking on a cell phone while driving.

According to one national survey, at any given time during the day in the United States, one million people are on their cell phones while driving.  Since the year 2000, the average number of deaths from traffic accidents has been 42,000 a year and one-third of those were drug/alcohol-related. This leaves an average of 28,000 deaths due to other reasons. Texting is not the only driver distraction, but it has become a principal one gathering the attention of both federal and state legislators.
